Young people today do not understand the older generation and where they cam from World War 1, World War 2, Vietnam, 9/11 in terms of the wisdom they have in helping them know Jesus Christ.  You’ll learn how the older men can impact youth of today.

My guest today is a two time Collegiate football National champion with the 1955 and 56 Oklahoma Sooners. He played for the NFL Pittsburgh Steelers and the former AFL Dallas Texans.  Recently retired from 32 years of full-time ministry and a recent inductee into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.  Joining me now is current Chaplain for the Dallas NFL Retired Players Assocaiton, Bill Krisher.

Bill sees it as a generational glitch between those who are older and the new tech oriented millenials.

Jeff states that social media is a big contributing factor to this gap.

Bill notes that to not knock the Church but the Church has failed in a lot of ways of reaching our youth with the Gospel as it is in God’s Word.

Fathers can bridge this gap by spending more time with their children.  Young people need their fathers to fill this gap.  Many women, wives are raising their children.

Learn practical steps as a dad to lead your kids and their friends to Jesus Christ.  Learn the importance of going to church, prayer and financial giving.

Give don’t just take.

If you’re struggling right now with leading your children closer to God we have some practical steps and solutions for you on today’s podcast episode.

Jeff notes that he had to realize that he was a child of God and this his father.  Once he got that he was able to show that to his kids everyday.

Words of encouragement to overcome your focus on career and instead relax and be themselves to not be the guru or most intelligent or hardest worker in the family.

It’s important as dads to finish well.

Bill talks about his days in the National Football league as Jeff asks him if he learned anything about his days in the NFL to impact youth.  Bill states that during his time with FCA he shared the importance with the youth how important their relationship with Jesus Christ is.

Bill and Jeff talk about different sports, football, tennis, and others.

Jeff asks Bill to share about his days being recruited by Notre Dame University, Oklahoma State and the University of Oklahoma.  Bill shares a funny story about being recruited by the head coach of Notre Dame and then accepting a scholarship at the University of Oklahoma under head coach Bud Wilkinson.

Bill Krisher talks about the only game he lost at the University of Oklahoma the only game he ever lost was against Notre Dame University against legendary quarterback

Bill shares a funny story about a game in 1956 playing for Oklahoma against the University of Texas Longhorns.  He shares a story about snapping off the face mask off the Longhorn center in the Cotton Bowl.

He played with Bobby Lane during his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bill Krisher shares his story of personal salvation.  Trusting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Jeff states that when you share your testimony when someone else you are reminded how much God loves you and how far he has taken you.

Jeff and Bill talk about Jeff’s evangelism training book that is being edited and will be published in 2018.  To pre-order the book send an email to jeff@MenUnplugged.net.

Bill states the best moment of his life was when he met his wife.  He met his wife at Coach Tom Landry’s 70th birthday celebration.  He talks about having kids and grandkids.

Jeff mentioned his affinity for the Dallas Cowboys and how much he respected the late and great Tom Landry and how he was a man of character and integrity.  Bill confirms that and asked Bill to run the southwest region for FCA.

Bill shares the last moment of his career when he lost the game to Notre Dame in the last three minutes.  They lost that game six to zero.  Bill shares that that loss was such a loss to the Sooner fans that nobody left the stands.  Jeff asks if the fans were thinking that maybe there was more time on the clock that they were stunned that they lost.

Bill shares a personal habit or discipline that attributes to his success was that he was guick on his feet and he enjoyed hitting people on the football field.

Tools and resources to help you out.  Number one is to get God’s Word in you and share that with others.  Secondly, to pray.

Jeff and Bill talk about Psalm 46:10 – be still and know that He is God.

Favorite verses for Bill Krisher Matthew 6:33 and Philippians 1:3.

Jeff’s favorite verses Psalm 119:32 and Philippians 4:13.  Psalm 119:32 Jeff talks about how the psalmist notes that he runs in the path of God’s commands not just walks.  A sense of excitement and eagerness doing what God commands.
